Found the problem. The plastic cracked around the inlet fitting. It was a very small crack, not the large missing chuck depicted. Question: How do I get this thing out of the carb body? Parts manual shows no threads, so it is apparently pressed in. Do I have to disassemble the carburetor and drive it out from the inside? Thanks!

Yup. Came right out. Rebuild and remote idle adjust kits on their way from American Sport Bike. Had to get the inlet from ebay. It'll be solid brass now vs. the stock plastic/brass inlet. I have no idea what jets are in it. What sounds right for a stock engine with the Buell Race Kit pipe and exhaust? |

48/190 works for me in MD, elevation ranging from 800 to 1800 ft. |

Thanks Joe. I took the jets out...45 and 190. I'm at sea level, effectively. Seems to run just fine with those. |

I fired up my S2 finally after extensive work, fired right up! and then I found my carb leaking just like yours.... so parts are getting ordered and the carb comes back out to be repaired. thanks for posting this and the solution, it pointed me in the right direction to diagnose and solve the issue on my bike. |

FYI - The position of the inlet fitting is critical. Too vertical, and it'll interfere with the carb mount, too laid back and it'll hit the engine. I know you've already pulled it, but if you can remember where it was, try to get the new one in the same way. I think around 11 O'Clock is the right spot. |

I drove 100 miles (50 each way) to a HD shop that actually had one in stock.. pulled the old stock fitting out, replaced with this one, matched it up in position to another carb sitting side by side, reinstalled carb.. worked perfectly!! no leaks. thanks for posting this, this was a VERY helpful topic and lead to a fix that I might not have easily found! I've got photos I will try and post after I get them loaded and resized. |

Anyone ditching an old CV...send it to me. I'll give it a good home Properly tuned, they outperform anything I've tried on a street Buell in real-world conditions. I'll take all the spares I have room for, considering I own four carbureted tubers! They don't break often, but if an oddball part goes it's always nice to have a spare on a shelf. |
