All I could say was...wow! Then I sent the seller a message which I hope was somewhat intelligible amidst my jibbering about how nice his bike is. |

I put a bid of 3K on it! Seriously it would be a nice bike to have in the stable but I must resist. |

The front fender is also from an S2. And it has twin front rotors and calipers (should be a single). That means the front fender is obviously new paint, not factory as represented. Was the bike in an accident? Something ain't right. |

Absolutely gorgeous but, not quite a perfect, hyper-detailed and slightly restored survivor either. Rex, do you still have yours? |

Great looking bike . . . If . . . unless they were in one of the tossed boxes . . I looked I think I have the right stickers. The fender, although not RSS, was designed by the same person at about the same time. Looks like a fun bike and brings back tons of great memories from back in the late 80's when mine was my daily transportation. |

I asked the seller and got back a thorough response. Much less sinister than originally thought. The original forks had a persistent and unfixable leak around the lower damping adjuster holes. After repeated attempts to fix the leak, small casting cracks were noted in those attachments. By that time, replacement forks in the original style were not available. He went to the next closest thing: the S2 forks. He said the attachments were different enough to require changing the fender at the same time. He had to have the caliper mounts made custom because the bolt spacing widened on the S2 forks. He also says the original fender is still with the bike, just not installed. He claims the bike was factory equipped with dual disks. That seems odd but, he shouldn't have any reason to lie about something like that so...? |

It's funny how short some peoples memory's are. Or perhaps it's because I digitally manipulated the pictures for the owner, that I recall the bike in question. Anything here look or sound familiar? If you search for 'Blackhawk' for 'Names of authors' and search for 'Messages posted within the last 2400 Days' you will find Blackhawk's engagement on BadWeB trying to find the exact parts that everyone is - rightly so, as purists - nitpicking about. Seriously, am I the only one who remembers/remembered? 1313 |

I thought that there was still a garage of RSS and RS parts. I know I ordered my chain guard from them. REX Court, was it EMB? |

Looks like it re-listed because it didn't hit his reserve. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Buell-Other-1992-Buell-RSS -1200-Westwind-Genuine-Machine-1462-miles-Red-/231 163494051?forcerrptr=true&hash=item35d26afea3&item =231163494051&pt=US_motorcycles What is the story on the tank decals? Both Rex's ex-bike and this one have "Buell American Motorcycles" tank decals. In 1992 I thought they should say "Buell Motor Company"....or am I wrong? |

FWIW, my '92s (3) all have the "American Motorcycles" on the tank. My '90 has "Motor Company". I can only assume all still have the original style lettering for the year of manufacture, but I know 3 have seen new paint by prior owners. |

I've been wrong before. I will be wrong again. But when I am wrong, I am DEFINITIVELY wrong. So somewhere between '90 and 9'2, the "Amercan Motorcycles" tag appears...which was likely a move to identify differentiate from the European and Japanese marques...since American bikes don't traditionally look like that... |

She is listed again. I put 2n2 together with this post as well. I hate shipping overseas. Sad story. Beautiful machine. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/715834.html?1372712506 |
