I've been thinking about cutting down the tail section on my '99 M2, what I call the 'curtain' look. This is my efforts playing in MS paint ( I don't have photoshop ) I know the battery area is not be accurate, but you get the idea. I plan on keeping the stock seat. Would like to hear other opinions.

I like it - do it. But keep your original tail. They are getting harder and harder to find. I have a slightly "trimmed" one (see my profile pic). I don't need it any more, you could chop it any way you want and still have your stocker in case you ever want to swap back. |

I have never seen an alteration on these tails that looked good in my opinion. Don't forget all the electrical that is under there that you will be able to see. |

While I agree with BlackM2, I would add I never really liked the tailpiece on the M2. But as he said, its used to cover a lot of things that are hard to beautify, the ignition module, wires etc. The Manta tailpieces at AirTech look pretty good, but same problem. |

This is why I say keep your stock piece. I ran 2 different cut down tails for awhile, but eventually went back to the stock one. |

I just got this tail piece. I havent installed it yet but there is no wiring adjustments other than blinkers. The tail light fits right inside. |
