So took a 2 hr ride and towards the when taking off from a stop would hear the pistons pinging Does not do it when cold |

Do you have the updated 10R2 plugs installed? It was delivered with a different temperature 6R2 plug and Buell put out a bulletin advising the newer plug. You need to have 93 octane gas if you can get it. |

Good answer Jim2, I think the spark plug numbers are 10r12 (colder temperature) and 6r12 (hotter temperature). Another thing to think about is using a synthetic motor oil, which should help keep the temperature down. I personally use Amsoil 20w50. |

Also check your timing and fueling/jets. I had a similar issue with my S2. I checked intake seals, pulled a couple degrees of timing out of the engine, and tweaked my jetting (I had just changed mufflers) and now it is much happier. |
