What would you consider to be the normal range of oil consumption? I'm using a quart about every 600 miles. My bike has 10000 miles on it. |

That is pretty heavy consumption |

I probably use about that. But I have almost 40k miles on my bike. I suspect that I either need a valve job or new rings. |

Overfilling can cause it, but also your crank seal could be shot. Are you losing oil from the tranny vent? |

There's no leakage into the transmission. I'm thinking either the valve seals or the rings might be worn. I bought the bike used and I think it might have been rode hard. |

Valve guide seal popped off, perhaps? The trick is a little bit of Green Loctite when you install the new seal to keep it where it belongs. |

I use a half a quart every 2500...and most of that is leaked out... |
