i know this topic has been beat to death, but i just bought a S2 off a badweb guy... great guy, straight up honest.. he mentioned excessive vibration... rear isolators replaced and front (up graded version)..still buzzy as hell...I'm looking for pics of the front isolator on a S2, none notched neck..i have owned S2's in the past, any help or info would be great T | ||

No pic handy, but make sure it is installed correctly. Flat side up, fender washer on the bottom. | ||

The current ones which just came out are a joint US/Canadian venture and are a lot less buzzy than the previous Chinese ones. S2 mount under the frame but on mine I had to mount it above the frame due, I think, to the S3 mount. Both the new iso and the previous one take a smaller bolt. I should yank it apart and put in a bushing to take up the slop in the mount but not tonight. | ||

The one on my S2 was mounted from the top. And probably original based on the condition of all three. So I'm guessing it came from the factory that way. Now that I think of it, I have never seen a front isolator bolted on from the bottom. | ||

I got mine at American Sport Bike a few weeks back. I've never seen an isolator bolted from the bottom, either, other than in the instruction sheets. I just didn't have enough room to get it to mount up right. | ||

American sportbike has the correct isolator for the tube frame Buells. No guesswork. | ||

Interesting. I've never seen an instruction sheet. Would it really make a difference either way? | ||

HOOT, i contacted Al at American Sport Bike and he sent me directions on install... Al great dude ..no doubt...the front isolater was replaced.. not sure how long ago.. perhaps they upgraded since then...i know the previous owner battled with this also... WE WILL PREVAIL  | ||

The instruction, if I recall, said to install it from beneath on a non-notched frame, and above on a notched one. Been a while, I might have that backwards. But it definitely said that installing from underneath was an option. | ||

Hootowl, That's what the instructions say. My S2 has two small notches but not the big cutaway that the diagram shows. I stuck it on top which is where it wanted to fit. The Made in USA/Canada isolators are very, very recent - they became available only a few weeks ago. The Made in China one was buzzy as can be. | ||

The FRONT ISOLATOR is a retrofit from the H-D BIG TWIN front motor mount and the REAR ISOLATORS are a retrofit from the H-D BIG TWIN "SOFTTAIL" rear swing arm mounts !!! | ||

No but I did try a stand-alone DS isolator (no washers) and it was buzzy as all get out. | ||

Buellistic, correction to your post above the rear isolators are a retrofit from FLT/FXR rear isolators as softails do not use isolators | ||
