one word of caution, the housing is not a true form retrofit. sticks out a bit, but in general, looks fantastic.
here is the original halogen light

That looks slick indeed. And after just getting off mine, I am feeling more and more inclined to get a good headlight instead of the stocker. Did you do anything special to get the new light to stay in the shell?" |

There was no need to make any modifications. As this is meant to be a retrofit for a standard 7 inch halogen light. There is a bit of thought required disassembling the bezel/bracket that holds the rim of the light and then assembling it on the replacement unit. But this is only an extra 5 minutes or so. |

Lookup the trucklite for a 5.75 bucket if you think that's pricy...apparently hd will only let that company make em for hd, who charges $500 some odd bucks for the honor. |

I'm looking to add a PAR 36 spotlight on the left side (Opposite the air cleaner ) for some long range visuals. Need to find a mount, and don't want to spend $200. |

Hey Zrx, I just put this same headlight on my S1 and I am having some issues with it vibrating badly in the housing. Are you having any issues with yours and if so what did you do to remedy it? I assume the issue with mine is the extra weight of the new light but if yours is not vibrating maybe there is something wrong with my housing. It went together like stock.(I used an M2 bucket if any one was wondering, won't work with S1/X1 bucket) |

Mike, to mount the headlight one actually has to use the chrome headlight ring from the original headlight. the ring is also a bracket that holds the glass reflector/lens of the OEM halogen bulb. it comes apart with three screws and bolts right onto this LED light.let me know if this makes sense. if not, I can take a few pics this weekend |

I put one of the new 7" harley LEDs on my 2000 M2. Looks great and the light it puts out is amazing. |

Thanks for the replies but I got it figured out. Bone head move on my part, missed the tab and slot that hook the inner and outer mount rings together. Solid as a rock now. Thanks again. |

Looks good but hard to justify the cost. I put a DDM Tuning HID in for around $50.00. It is very bright and I have been using it for about two years now so I consider it reliable. It is so bright that when people look at it in daylight they usually cover their eyes or look away immediately. At night it makes daylight. Are these new LEDs as bright as the HID systems? Id say so. I had an HID set up that the PO installed and it was bright but lacked the high beam function. I also wanted to clean up the area behind the fly screen because I am running with out one. The LED plugs right in to the stock plug with no extra wiring or ballast or plugs. The low beam is comparable if not brighter and is focused better and the high beam is holy sh.. bright. The headlight itself looks kool too! I paid Just under $200 for it. |

This is off topic.. but I was wondering what the original poster thinks off his...or her.. (gotta be politically correct) bar end mirrors, and the name of the brand if you like them. Thanks! |

That's honestly not bad for headlight-bright LED...very few are bright enough to be primary lighting... |

While the headlight was in the mail I diagnosed a failing stator, replaced it.. then was left stranded on the way to church on the side of the road in my suit due to a cam position sensor... and put the bike up on the lift and ordered the parts, went on vacation for a week in California, came back home to find my cam position sensor delivered, installed it and timed the bike. then diagnosed a failed Voltage regulator and I believe the coil is failing also (the timing light would only work on the front cyl when I reversed the leads to the coil and the plug wires).. so now I am waiting for a crane coil, taylor wires and a voltage regulator.. Have not even opened the headlight box, but now that I am waiting on parts I am going to put it in today... I know most people are wondering how all this could be failing all within a week of each other, but this bike was my daily rider in high school and then I blew a hole through the rear piston, rebuilt it with a 1250 kit and then was diagnosed with lymphoma and dropped out of high school to take my GED and receive Chemo/Radiation and a bone marrow transplant..then once I was in remission I left to college with the Buell sitting in the garage, new jugs and pistons, unbroken in.... now I am a junior (still in remission) home for the summer and I am trying to get it back on the road.. so it has been sitting for about three years.. I know 90% of this has nothing to do with the headlight but I thought I needed to explain why my m2 is seeming to have a month from hell.. will post pic/ review after install (Message edited by Buellboy91 on August 06, 2013) |
