Dammit all to hell! I was going to go rescue that bike but, didn't have the money or room. What a retard. I need to go get the remains. Crap, I can't afford a drive to Portland. Another Black Sapphire Pearl, gone. |

Pretty sad some people value these bikes so little. I guess in the end it just makes each one that remains, worth more each time this happens. |

well, now there is a fuel injected motor on ebay for about 1800.00 complete, 500.00 for this...beautiful upgraded S2 for 2300.00 except I am on the EAST cost and it would cost too much to get it here.... joker could have stolen the motor from a sportster and had the same motor...thrashed a beautiful bike for a run-of-the-mill sportster motor... this just kills me....my bumper sticker says "save the tubers" |

Sadly, I am pretty sure this is one that has been listed here a few times. I went up to Portland with the intention of riding it back as the seller assured me it could make the trip. Actually, I think his words were "I don't see why it wouldn't make it" ....which I later assumed he typed with his eyes closed. I took the train to Portland, gave the bike a cursory inspection and quickly doubted the wisdom of throwing a leg over and riding 700 miles through a few mountain ranges to bring it home - shorty universal Supertrapp dangling from the head pipe was the most glaring problem, but he was also working on it when I arrived (the trip had been planned for almost two weeks, not a surprise visit or something), and most importantly - he didn't have a title on it. For a lot of little signals from the seller, I smelled trouble and elected to walk away from my deposit. Instead, I ended up buying Veronica, so I count that as having worked out. Still when I saw it come up again for the lower price, like a few of us, I was considering it, and when the "Needs engine post"happened, I quickly tried to figure out how to make the run up to PDX and save the remains - But I cannot house another project, not until I finish and sell my '49 Panhead. Between that and the fact I am saving my pennies and my last open spot in my shop for a certain RSS, I decided to let this pass by. I hope that someone else with the tuber passion found it with the plans to rescue it. If it was the bike I saw - it was rough. it did not have one undamaged piece of bodywork, was flying a first recall shock, early exhaust hanger and original primary chain adjuster - I insisted the seller make that change before I would consider riding it home - it turned out and it had never been changed in almost 50K miles and was about to explode. Wondering if we are about to see a another batch of parts show up on eBay. If so - I need the forks from that one for #202.. (Message edited by Lynrd on October 20, 2013) |

So the motor that this tool took out for his KUSTUM CHOPPA was already not quite right? Nice. |

It was relatively high milage and appeared indifferently maintained. The story was the S2 was his dads and dad used to commute on it daily. Engine may be just fine, maybe not...it had high miles (~50k) but not enough to condemn it. I am positive, however, that the muffler would not have stayed on to the California border dangling from the headpipe as it was. I strongly suspect I would have discovered more problems as soon as I was inconveniently away from town and on the road. |

I must say I'm humbled and raise my hat to those of you who make trips on your own dime to buy a bike or anything for that matter just based on pictures and the seller's description. I could never do that unless at least I could ask someone from here to check it out for me. We are used to the honesty and the knowledge of the folks here and think every one who owns a Buell is one of us. I think we are lucky enough to have folks here who are spread all over this great country and we should take more advantage of this luxury... |

I tried to get it a few days ago, but the ad has been pulled, and the call was not returned. We'll probably see the parts on ebay soon. |
