Before I call up Candlepower, does anyone have a handy cross reference for the sealed beam headlight in the S2? I also need to increase the wattage in the instrument bulbs. Am I going blind or are these things kind of dim? A little of both, I'm afraid. |

I should have done a search first - found it from one of Ratbuell's posts. http://www.autobarn.net/heleurhal20h.html |

I just ordered one of those kits. I hope it's as advertised, because I'm with you Steve, the headlight, and dash lights for that matter, are just plain dull. I figured if I had a charging problem, it would have reared it's ugly head by now, because I never have put the battery on a Tender. |

Life is good: I found a new 7" Candlepower headlight up in the loft which I bought in 1991 for resale and nobody ever purchased it. Once I buzzed off those weird tabs inside the headlight bucket it popped right in. Here's the weirdest thing I've ever seen: the instrument bulbs are covered with tiny orange condoms or tiny little balloons to give it that special little glow. I popped in new bulbs while I had everything apart and now I can see what I'm doing at night. This is turning out to be a really good bike. I'm so glad I persevered with this project. |

That's actually good information to know. I think I'll just keep the 'dim' bulbs in the dash then. But the headlight needs help! LOL And like you, the more time I put into this bike, the better it gets... |

The light Steve linked to is not the light I use. I use an E-code light like this: http://www.quadratec.com/products/97009_6010.htm?s gsc=C6Z06ZR1C6Z06ZR1&utm_medium=compshop&utm_sourc e=googlemerchant&gclid=CPfu5OCog7oCFU2Y4AodwlgAug I never trust "non-DOT" rated lights...but E-code lights ROCK. |

That must have been one somebody else on that thread used. The Candlepower I went with didn't have a part number on the box but if you give them the dimensions they can match one up for you. I also stuck in an XB3 55/60W bulb and it really lights up the road. They're a real good source for heavy duty bulbs for things that vibrate like crazy. http://store.candlepower.com/ They also carry those weird silicone rubber covers for the instrument bulbs! |

Maybe, maybe not. Some of the "non-DOT"s are pretty good. Some aren't. They're non-regulated, so it's a crapshoot how the optics are done. E-codes are euro spec lights; depending on the manufacturer, you will see "left dip" and "right dip" in the descriptions. I forget offhand what the term means, but I'm pretty sure it's telling you which side of the beam dips down. My E-code light when pointed at a wall has a top edge of the light that goes straight across...then on the right it angles up. For street signs. But it is low on the left for oncoming traffic. (at least I'm pretty sure "left dip" means it dips down on the left...could mean that's the "up" side...like I said, I can't recall offhand...early...pre-coffee....ugh) |

Hi Dan...yes it will fit, but will not help overrall brightness, nor will it prevent the need to mess with removing entire light assembly to replace bulb. Big drag! I put one on like Ratbuell did above, and can now use different bulbs, and can replace a bulb by reaching in between light assy. and steering stem! Much easier-- |
