I've had my S2 for about 2 years now and I just noticed bubbles starting to crop up on the tank cover and front tire hugger that were not there a month ago. The bike was painted before I bought it, and I think it was shortly before I bought it. So I am estimating a 2-3 year old paint job. I recently moved (one month ago)and my new garage is much more noticeably humid than my old one. However, I have driven this bike through ridiculous rain storms before and not had any paint problems. I don't really see how the humidity is doing this but it's the only change I can think of related to this problem. It looks like bubbles and not an attack from the outside. Any thoughts? I searched old posts but they all seem to be related to the gas tank on other models. This is the fender and tank cover that should really not see any gas. I don't want to go through the process of repainting if I don't know what caused it. |

It just sounds like poor prep work. The paint is flaking away from my Useless after 75,000 miles so maybe it's related to pollutants, too. |

Useless = Ulysses? Where is there paint on a Ulysses? If there is...it isn't from the factory. |

I had mine done like an X1 Race Stripe in Mustang Blue back in 2006. It's called the Useless to keep it humble. Something caused the paint to start popping off starting two years ago and I suspect it's air pollution and acid rain. The same thing is going on with my 2006 vintage Buell helmets. |

I'm gonna keep an eye on it for a while to see if I can nail down what it is. So far its only on the tank cover and front hugger. I read some other forums dealing with paint over glass or carbon and found humidity to be a problem however this was more prevalent during the painting process rather than years later. Some folks have mentioned a similar problem when covering their cars with a water tight cover and the humidity that was trapped caused paint bubbling. Could just be poor prep or an incompatible primer/sealer etc. All I know is that it's a real bummer cause my paint job on this bike was pristine and looked amazing, guess it still does but just has a few bumps now.... |

I saw a pimple on The Nurple's tank cover last night which wasn't there a few weeks back. The bike was painted about 5 years ago and it hasn't seen sunlight until this year so who knows. |
