OK. I have had my bike for about 2 years, 2000 M2 with Tac and Speedometer 12K miles. Got into some mud and took it to the car wash and used a high pressure hose (I know probably shouldnt have done this). Anyways, took her out for a spin today and all started well and then all the sudden the tachometer started going crazy. Jumping up down all around in no particular pattern. When it was doing this the engine would back off almost like it was hitting the rev limit although it was nowhere near. The speedometer was also jumping a bit but not as much. I was able to slowwlllyy get it back to my house and here I am. I am almost certain the high pressure hose probably got some moisture in somewhere it shouldn't have. Where do I start? I have no idea what to look for or what to do? Please help |

The tach / stuttering sounds like crank position sensor. give it time to dry out and it may just get better. |

Actually, with the bike stuttering along with it...it sounds to me like coil wires or plug wires. +1 on letting it dry out (park it in the sun for a day). Definitely NEVER use a pressure washer on a motorcycle...not only does water get past electronic seals, but it can also get past a failing oil seal on an engine case...or into a breather hose...or past a fuel tank seal...the possibilities are endless. |

Ok so I went out today and attempted to start her up. Total loss of power. Console lights, headlights, nothing coming on. This change your ideas of the problem? Im thinking battery now...could loss of power been the jumping gauge problem? |

More info....tried again.....lights and console will come on but when I hit starter it just make one quick pop then shuts off. Then i have to turn key back and forth 5-10 times before console and lights will come back on. Hit starter same pop then shuts off. ????? |

Check your grounds and tighten the battery cables |

Try some WD40 on the ignition switch. SteveH |

Ground & or battery connections is what I'd be checking first. |

Hello all longtime no see. My bike has been sitting for three years. Did anybody find a solution to this? I have a 2000 Cyclone with the same issues..... |

Check the grounding strap from the swingarm to the frame. There is a very small washer between the strap and the frame that can rust over time. It happend to me a number of years ago and drove me crazy for almost a year till I figured it out and replaced the washer with a stainless one. |
