Has anyone experienced this bolt coming undone while riding?
Lost mine last week...bought parts but it looks like the threads inside the primary case were this bolt goes needs cleaned / re-tapped.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Never lost this one, but had to change it when I laid down the bike to rest on its right side. I used a bore brush from my gun cleaning kit to get inside bolt holes, with wd-40 or something stronger, if I know what I'm dealing with. I guess you want to make sure theres no broken bolt piece left in there?
I have a set of thread-chasing taps; they don't cut new thread but will restore old threads.
May not be able to buy only one, though, usually come in a set. eBay maybe?
Blue Loctite, on clean threads (wipe off the WD-40) don't skimp on the blue. Torque wrench is better too obviously. I've bought a number of tools since getting my M2!

Yep, the one on my X1 came loose and I used blue loctite on it. So far it hasn't come undone again.

I've had mine shake loose a few times, sprayed it out with brake cleaner last time, then cleaned the threads with some q-tips ad sprayed it again, then blew it out with compressed air and locktited it. Has held strong since all that.

Sure wish I could find a button head, allen or torx bolt to put in there.

Updated shifter, main bolt that mounts it to, and through the Primary cover.

Mine is a 1/2" head hex bolt.

Anyway, while my shifter has shaken lose a few times it hasn't munged up the thread, hopefully you can chase the threads and make the best of it with some loctite, and not need to do a helicoil or timecert in.
