The rear brake mount rotates around and the forward caliper mounting bolt digs into the top of the swing arm. Is it supposed to do this? What am I not doing that I should be doing to prevent this? |

The pin on the mount goes in the hole/slot on the inside of the swingarm, on aluminum swingarms. |

There's a slot on the inside of the rear swingarm that the post/bolt fits into. |

A picture can say a thousand words, so here's three:

Superb! I knew it had to be something simple. Thanks! |

RULE of THUMB: Study what you are taking apart as it goes back together the same way ... |

And the first rule of thumb is... Take lots of pictures! |

There's a bit of a trap with that too. there's a hole under the slot that the caliper anti rotation bolt will fit into on some models. If you're not paying enough attention you can get it in this hole and then wonder why you can't get the axle in.... Guess how I know.. LOL |

Well, it's ALWAYS been like that as long as I've had it. Evidently the previous owner didn't know about the little slot either. Guess I wasn't very observant. |

If they've missed that, might be an idea to check that the steel tab is still on where the pads touch the carrier. I've just pulled a bike apart here and that part was missing and the pads have dug into the aluminium carrier, which is now an ornament.. lucky I had a spare. |

Is the brake line supposed to be behind the rear hugger or outside like the picture? There is an opening cut in the hugger near the front that allows for routing the brake line to behind the hugger. Looks like a bit more protected. Just wondering |

X1's ran them behind and S3's and I think M2's ran them on the outside. Not sure why the difference but I think it may have something to do with the rear footpeg position on the X1's |

Thanks. On my X1 the dealer routed it through the notch and behind the hugger when I had the rear tire replaced. They have a great Buell mechanic who not only fit the bolt in the slot but also set the belt "scary loose". Well worth the hour labor charge. |
