Sorry if I missed this in my search of other threads. I need to replace the complete headlight assembly, with wiring, on my 99 X1. In reading the shop manual it says I'll need to drain and remove the tank to access the wiring harness along the frame. Has anyone else done this without having to remove the tank? |

You can access the plug on the harness on the M2 by unbolting the tank and just turning it sideways, I'd imagine the X1 can be dealt with in a similar manner. |

X1 headlight plug is under the gas tank. I have removed the seat and the bracket and the tank cover then lift the rear of the tank and put something in the space to hold it up. You should be able to access the headlight plug after that. |
