So, on my ride in today my CEL came on after I had been at 80mph/4k rpm for a few minutes, it doesn't run any different. I noticed it doing this the other day but couldn't see anything wrong mechanically, it only happens when I am at 4k rpm or above for an extended period of time. It will usually clear when I turn off the bike and won't reappear until I am at highway speed for a while. |

If you dont have ecm spy use the FSM blink code method to find out why its coming on |

Got ECMspy, just haven't had time to check it. I'm thinking its an O2 sensor, but wanted some input on what else it could be. |

I would be interested to know the cause. |

I'll hook it up to ECMspy when I get home |

I used to get those from time to time. Error code for oxygen sensor. My headers were a little loose. Loose headers = bad ground for sensor + fresh air in there too. |

Got home and plugged her in, error code 13, O2 sensor inactive. Funny, the CEL didn't come on during the ride home. Guess I'll have to change it when I get back from vacation. |

O2 sensor inactive? Like it was disabled on purpose? |

No, didn't disable it, maybe intermittently lost connection? |

My o2 sensor did the same thing. It lost ground through the exhaust and it actually shorted out 2 of the pins on my ECM. The o2 sensor pins actually. It was loose in the header some how and jiggled for a couple weeks before i figured out what was going on. |

My X1 used to like to eat the oxygen sensor wire. It's crazy long. You have to be careful in how you tie it up. |

Eat the wire? Can you elaborate? The wire is just sitting there on top of the starter. Where did the "teethe" come from? |

Vibes rubbing through the insulation. Also, hot pipe burning the insulation. It seemed like wherever I shifted the damn thing, it would find a new enemy. Once I finally routed the drippy crank case breather to a hose under the bike, I tied the wire along the rubber hose to keep it out of harm's way. |

Well, after I checked all the connections I couldn't find a thing wrong, maybe the O2 came unplugged a little, I didnt feel a click when I checked the connection but so far after 2 more rides, no CEL. |

Perhaps it was just craving attention? Your headers on there good and tight? My favorite trick carried over from my old sportster is to tap the pipe with the toe of my boot. "Thump" is good "buzz" or "rattle" not good. |

Did you degrease the motor? O2 sensors do not like that. Polish is another no no. Wipe it clean is about all I do. |

No degrease, just riding it everyday to work, hasn't done it since. I did have a tailwind that day though..... |

Replaced the O2 sensor last weekend and finally got a chance to ride it, now the light comes on as soon as I get above 80mph. Before, it would take a while before the CEL would come on. I haven't cleared the faults yet but was just wondering if anyone had some input. No change in how it runs, still runs good. |

It doesn't sound like I have a leak, is there any other way to check? |
