Why not have your old one redone?? I know some places that make some good stuff and some way over the top stuff!! NOT KIDDING!

Any good upholstery shop can do a re-cover. Or what i have done is take the cover off the seat. Take the cover to a good shop of my choice and have it copied. And in whatever finish i desire, Then i take it home and do it myself. A little tricky but definitely not hard though. Hell you could get the fabric and a staple gun and the cover made for that price!

or here is a friends of friends shop. Makes crazy lighted seats!!!!!

Here is a shift boot i made for my truck.

Try yourself and next time you have the tools and experience to do a little better next time.

I got a weird story to share about X1 seats.
My original seat is pretty well broken down after lots of fun miles.
I bought a seat that was unused, just sitting on someone's shelf.
It was in mint shape and it fir just fine.
After installing it, I found it was hard as a rock. Like punishing hard.
It looked exactly like mine but was a rock.
I ended up just putting my original seat back on.

Do seats harden up with disuse?

Can't really answer that one, but I do remember some variation in X1 seat 'firmness' even with the Pro Series seats with the colored piping. On the 2 X1 test bikes that tested the blue header for the X1W, we put a Pro Series seat on each bike. One was cushy, one was firmer.

Over simplifying things, seat foam is pretty much like the foam in place shipping foam - a two part mixture of chemicals. If sufficient process controls are not put in place, the results tend to have significant variation.

Considering personal preferences what seems like a rock to you, might be exactly what someone else finds just right...
