I want to replace the clock on my S3 with a temperature gauge. Has anyone done this? Finding a gauge is easy, but where/how do you wire it? I guess you need a sending unit. Someone suggested using a sportster dipstick with a temp gauge, but that would be under the seat.

I did it several years ago using the HD mini gauge.

You need a sender usually included with the instrument, and you need to decide where to install it (sender).

Mine is on the line going back to the oil tank, the warmest line on the bike.
be careful if you put the sender in the line so that you don't restrict it.
the tie in should be sturdy and well tucked in, wiring will be in the instrument instructions.
