While cleaning up my bike I am trying to address some deficiencies and one is that the shifter assembly has been buggered up and worn out over the last 15 years and 30K miles and several PO's Can anyone helop me with what will interchange so I don't go pissing away time and money? Thanks |

The M2 and X1 shifters are different. The boomerang style shifter may only differ in the length of the rod that connects the boomerang to the shift shaft. The 2001+ shifters have different length foot controls. The X1 is longer because the pegs are further back. I would imagine that the 2001+ X1 shifter would fit an S1's foot peg placement. |

Last time I called banke he would still make a full set up, but since it was now considered custom work he would charge time and materials... It's really nice stuff, but expensive!! |

Yes Jeff, that will work if you are looking for a budget friendly alternative. If you went with the upgraded Buell part I suspect the M2/S3 part would be the better option. The X1 shifter has the longer shift arm mentioned by Hoot, it also has a two piece mount that allows for the chin fairing to be secured, with the block on either side of it. Good looking bike Ken, I dig that saddle. |

Ken, is that the X1 or M2/S3 shifter you have on your S1? I suspect it is the X1, since the M2/S3 shifter puts the toe peg closer to the center of the derby cover, but who knows. (Message edited by hootowl on May 09, 2013) |

It was the buell upgrade kit i purchased from Al at American Sport Bike It is designed for the S1 but I could get you measurements then if we can get the same for the X1 we will see if they are close. Thanks for the compliment! It is a Corbin saddle |

I'm going to try the boomerang shifter. I'm less aggressive in riding than I was years ago and can manage with a bit of slop, but my current stamped steel unit is pretty crappy. I like S1owner's shifter a lot, and may spring for the extra cost if this one isn't to my taste. BTW is the Corbin seat significantly more comfortable than the stock seat? I have a Corbin on order for my Sportster, and was wondering if it would be worth it to get one for my Buell |

The corbin as far as comfort is not much diffrent it is better fitting and does not push you into the tank. |

Cyclone boomerang will not work without extensive modification-won't clear the engine case. Tore mine down and found the footpeg mount should have an oval lug at the back that is worn away or the frame is wallowed out (I think the mount was twisted against it and it sheared off at some point, there is an outline of sorts) Cleaned everything up, changed the plastic bushing and have my old welded up piece on for now-looks like the upgrade shifter is going to be the route to go. |

Now you need to find one! I will take some measurements and put a diagram up maybe it will help you piece one together! |

ANd here's some pics and part numbers for the S3/M2 upgrade linkage kit on the following thread from March, this year. Sure would be nice if we could do some sort of sticky note with certain PN's that are commonly looked for. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/704654.html?1361721946 Mike |
