No, they are implying that I could have a crank shaft leak that's allowing the engine oil to flood into the primary that overfills it which causes it to slip. No it's definitely slipping at high rpms. Right before I start to pull on the clutch lever it slips out of gear and bounces off the limiter until I let off (right away) and have to wait for it to settle down about 750rpm from redline before it'll re-engage. |

Really sounds like you need to do a through clutch adjustment. That is the first place to start and the cheapest ($0). You really do need to get the primary inspection cover off to check the primary chain tension. Another issue could be the primary chain tensioner. If it's the old style there is a very good chance it is cracked or broken this will DEFINITELY cause shifting problems. Since the bike appears to have been thrashed by the previous owner the possibility of a roached adjuster is very real. |

High RPM will kill your bike. It's not an Over Head Camshaft motor and is not capable of withstanding excessively high RPM without rattling itself to bits. The power is a bit of a novelty at first but then things start to break. Buells are extremely powerful without RPM. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXKtzsue0X4 |

It makes its peak power at 6200rpm, so I should not take it to that level? What should I shift at if I want to race through the gears? 5500rpm? I'm kinda saddened that I can't take a bike to it's full specified potential without it falling apart. Oh well, back to the slow boring cruises around town. Oh and thanks for the youtube link.. I saw it when it was first posted on here in another thread. Seriously cool stuff. I also saw a show locally where they used Buells and Sportsters in the same way. |

I don't ride at a constant 6K but My X1 will see that once and a while. I have the race brain that allows the engine to get to 7200 before rev limiter pulls my plug. I have only hit that rev limit a couple of times. That area of the power band should be visited briefly. My X1 will comfortably cruise at 4000 on the highway. No reason to hold it in third on the highway. |

Gotta bounce off that rev limiter in fifth gear for good measure... You can feel the hair growing on your chest...That's what Ive been told. |

I would obviously shift before the rev limiter but 500rpm before redline the clutch slips. |
