Hey folks, I am recovering from pelvic surgery and was told to move toward a touring bike. Money and desire aren't really there for that, i like my tuber! I currently have 1" bar risers. Are there any other mods that can be done like bar upgrades, foot peg options etc! Just trying to hang on to my M2 and be as comfortable as a gimp like me can be! Also, curious about any sporty removable saddle bags that don't completely ruin the look (maybe impossible) just don't wanna seperate from my baby even though my needs are changing, thanks

Buell made some saddlebags specifically for the M2 - if you can find a set, they don't look bad at all. I use mine often. I seem to remember there are footpeg lowering kits out there somewhere also.

good luck

Blast bars fit and are taller. Same bar as an S3T.

Thats true - I also have S3 bars on my M2. I had to do a slight mod to the flyscreen to get everything to work.

Great info for the bags and bars, thanks! I also read that there's a peg kit for an S3 (touring kit) that'll lower the pegs 1" ?? Not sure I wanna lower my cornering clearance even though I'm a long way from knee dragging these days so might try it.

Kilroy and Ratbuell, did all the cabling make the stretch fairly easy?

A far as I remember all the original cables worked. The brake master cylinder hit the windscreen, thus the need for my "modification" if I recall correctly

Hey Fasted, sorry but unfamiliar with brinnutz, is that a BWB member or a vendor/website?

I have these bags on my M2 and I'm very happy with the looks and functionality.

saddle bags:

matching tank bag:
http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/5764.html

On the saddle bags I don't use the rubber footpeg loops they came with. Instead I got plastic belt snap connectors from the fabric store (like you see on backpack and belts. One end of the bag and another end attached to a strap loop that lopes around the seat frame tubing. When I sling the bags over the seat pan I then reach under and snap the two plastic connectors together. This holds the bags in place and also allows zipper pulls without moving the bags.

bzband, his name is wilson brinley. he is clearing out some hoarded parts to finance a baby.......

also, when i tried the s3 bars, i found that the instrument dash made routing the clutch cable a problem. your mileage may vary

Just my profile pic, sort of front-on so it doesn't show too much of the bars

For the bags, I use a set of Oxford Sports throwovers, but I take the seat off run the straps under with a little soft fabric to protect the bodywork, then refit the seat.
To stop them flapping I stuff a short section (8-10") of 30mm waste pipe on each folded up rear footpeg & small bungy-cords to the peg mounts.

Oh yeah, I have the S3T bars, AND a 1" riser from Am Sp Bike and still use the stock clutch cable. But I had to re-route it, to the 'near' side of the steering stem. I had to take off the little metal bend-preventer thing, but don't seem to have any problem with the cable.
