Chrome powder coat, once cleared, looks more like brushed aluminum than chrome to me. May match those wheels nicely. |

ya, i would do chrome powder or ceramic coat it to match your header... although the chrome powder cleared will probably match just fine. You have really done a great job from what you started with!! |

Well Thanks, I have Black Chrome powder, I have the yellow powder and I have Chrome and clear powder. So I can go whatever direction I want. I also have two rear drive gears so I may try two colors and see what looks best. I still want to do something with the front forks , but I wanted to ride it too. Soon it will be 120 degrees and I can do some finishing work.. Thanks for the kind words , I don't know how many hours I poured into this Buell but is is a lot so far. I think I want to put it in a few bike shows soon and see if I may have a future in restoration.. |

just my .02 cents worth, after staring at the images for a while my first thoughts on the front of the bike are yellow from the triples up. Save the chrome headlight ring. I may have missed it, what are you going to do for a front fender? Have you done car and or bike shows before? When you get to know the people at these shows it becomes clear, these folks have money, talent or both. |

If you have a rear fender/hugger in yellow, the pulley in yellow would be too much. Leave it as is, or solid black. And cut the pulley holes out bigger before hand! Your profile picture seems to have a yellow chin fairing and front fender in the background. So those are coming up. The rear hugger could be 'plain' carbon fiber, along the the tank accents, and maybe the headlight shell. (Message edited by jayvee on April 12, 2013) |

UHM well I believe I have talent. Danny Buell. Not sure what you mean exactly but my intention is restoration. Not to build some weird crap only rich people can leave in there garage. Jayvee I assume you mean the holes in the drive pully. That is a good idea. I do have a CNC so that would work out. I have yellow front and rear fenders when I finish them. |

I'd CNC the sprocket and then go with Fire Engine Red, I'd do the front disc also. But that's just me....Nice looking bike. |

I am sure you already know; for restoration work on a time and materials basis, rich people generally pay their bills on time. If they like you and your work they might just try you. |

I'd also say leave it but if it were me, I'd add the chin spoiler in yellow. I think that will balance the distribution of color across the bike. One last thing: a set of CF tank accents would also make a nice contrast with the yellow tank. All in all, real sharp bike. BTW, is that a 'vette Velocity Yellow? |

You have done great that is a really a nice looking bike. I would try and match the brake and carrier on the front wheel, mat interior with chrome rim. Kalali is right a yellow chin spoiler would look good. Just realized you have no front fender. Do what ever you are going to do with the fender first then see what will balance out the look best. I have been trying not to talk down to anyone but apparently I am not being clear. the old guys showing their stuff at these shows have more time and money than most. these are your best customers, get to know them... beautiful bike, by the way. |

Your advice is fine Danny at first I may have taken it wrong but then I asked for opinions. I understand what you are saying. I have some contacts in the motorcycle industry,I used to paint cars years ago and know some folks who wanted me to pain bikes. I chose another profession then. I have been thinking about the tank accents as well and I think it def. needs something there. I should have the fenders done soon then when I do tires I will decide on the Front and rear issues. No offence taken here, Keep the opinions coming I can take it all. Mark As for the fire engine red UMMM NO. |

It really is beautiful the way it is. I would put black fenders on it and be done with it, but maybe thats why I don't paint bikes for a living either! |

I would powder coat it black and leave the tire hugger off. Sometimes less is more. Might be too much yellow going on back there. |

I put the passenger footrests on yesterday and they are yellow same as frame. I think right now black or chrome for the drive gear is where I am. Or black center and chrome outer ring face. Fenders are definitely yellow soon. Still want to do front forks and disk carrier black later. I need to find someone to fill in the Pegasus on the back with black to highlight that part. Got a price on tires yesterday from Cycle Gear $130.00 rear and $108.00 front. Good deal if you ask me. |

Very nice scheme you have going. Leave the rear fender black. Just my preference for not drawing extra attention to the less than artful pieces of the bike. Much prefer brushed aluminum to chrome on the pulley. An exposed tooth profile like the XB pulley would look killer. |

Rear and front wheel cenere the same colour would balance the big banana. |

No matter what color you make the stock pulley, it will still IMO be ugly. Have it machined 1st.

That looks very nice Scott , it is funny I work in the machine trades on CNC machines all day but u think I have time to do my stuff. Not usually. :-) I need to make some time soon to do a few things for myself. |

So I tried the rear fender in yellow but didn't like it so I changed it to black. Painted the front to match the bike in Yellow. Got my new Michelin road three tires on it now, new brakes , new shock, all rebuilt and ready for Spring Fast now! I also installed a set of 1" risers from American Sportbike to help with comfort, And some FAT grips. Thanks to all who have helped me along the way, I appreciate the advice. I never set out to do all I have done but now I am glad I took the time to do it ALL. A little more tuning and I will be set up. Hope to meet some of you folks someday soon. Now let's go RIDE! Mark |
