I am going to be getting a 2000 Cyclone this Sunday. Someone is selling the following chassis and parts that can be seen on the lift will any of it fit or can be made to fit my cyclone? I see a shock muffler seat tank rear pulley....is this worth the 650 he is asking? I should point out that the frame has no title. Thanks Dave

if the shock is a Works or a Penske, it alone is worth $600 (and it will fit, worst case you change the front mount bracket because of shock length - there's only 2 choices). Nothing else will fit, other than the peanut tank if you want a skinny, small fuel tank. That looks like a race muffler - it's worth some bucks on its own (but still won't fit a stock header). Pulley and headlight should fit. |

That's a full set of S1 body work there though, with a Corbin saddle. Might be worth your effort to try and sell the set for a few hundred, and the seat for market value to make back some of what you spend on the other parts Rat mentioned. Seems like an S1 frame would be useful to someone. Title would help on that frame if someone wanted to build a project bike. |

Can someone direct me to what is needed to make the seat work....I've seen links but I think they were in dutch! Any explanations in English? Also Will the tank just bolt up to my 2000 Cyclone frame? Can any one identify that shock? Thanks Dave |

I would wager that is a works shock. Yes that tank bolts right on. To make the seat and tail work is not too complicated but you do need to cut and weld the subframe "hoop". If you bought the whole lot (which is a good deal at $650 IMO) and had that frame and yours side by side you would see the hoop and that its a simple mod if you can do basic rudimentary welding. |

The S1 sub frame sweeps up at a higher angle and is almost two inches more narrow. When I modded my frame I used the S1 tail and refabbed the frame to fit under it. It's not terrible difficult but you have to be really committed, and certain you'll be able to cope with the S1 seat - it's not great by any stretch of the imagination. Because I do a fair bit of bicycling on the road I've found the S1 seat plush in comparison. Many do not. It's not something you can just swap back to if it doesn't suit you. The skinny M2 tail from the pre 1999 models will just bolt right on and let you swap back and forth depending on mood or ride type. I owe a facebook friend pics of my undertail refab so I can post them here too, once I get around to taking them, if you'd like. |

Looks like a Works Performance shock from here too, but the pic is a bit fuzzy and of course not a close-up. I'll go take a look at my shock for you. |

So did you buy all the parts or just the tank and seat? |

Haven't bought anything yet...trying to determine what kind of shock that is and if it will fit...... Can get the tank and tail for 250 maybe an extra 100 for the shock if I can use it. |

stating the obvious, but it looks like another S1 chopped for a "custom" build... I want a bumper sticker that says "save the tubers"...but Id probably get pulled over for someone misunderstanding the statement.... |

Since no one else has said it, I will. Buy the lot, and pass along what you don't use, here. A win win... |

Here's a close up of the locking collar, and another of the whole shock body on my bike, Works Performance. I believe my Y2K came with a long shock, measure yours from eye to eye, it will either come in at roughly 14 1/2" or 16+". That will tell you if you can just bolt it on or if you'll need to change out your front mount. The one in the pic definitely looks like a Works to me, although I'm not an expert in that arena and I don't see the remote res...
...what Beardo said. |

Closer look at your pic says yes, Works shock, and here's why:
RED Circle: Remote res mounts in the exact manner as my Works. Yellow circle: I though this was the shift linkage but it's the reservoir line. Orange circle: That fuzzy little bit of gray appears to be the reservoir itself. To help you figure out what I'm seeing, the Green line follows the general course of the remote line from the mount point to the reservoir... the shift linkage is flopped backwards, it's angled up and down, dropping through the passenger peg bracket. |

No problem buddy, my M2 started it's life as a black Y2K model too. OOooh hey, since that frame isn't titled, though I hate to suggest it, actually makes me feel a little ill. maybe just cut the subframe off of the S1 and weld it to your M2 instead of refabbing your bike's subframe into something that the skinny tail will fit AAACK!!! Seriously, it makes me kinda sick inside to type that, even in a "whisper" how much work it is in Canada to acquire a title for that frame would be the deciding factor for that sort of decision I imagine. A VIN history search would probably be a good start towards figuring if hacking a straight and complete frame is a viable option. Someday I hope to build an S1 from saved parts. |

Its a royal pain in the a$$ to get a title.....and more importantly if I could get a title it more than likely would be a rebuilt title....which make insurance very expensive. In ontario our legislation make the amount that we can sue for in an accident very high.....so our premiums are very high. I'm paying $900 per year for the Cyclone....some companies quoted me as high as 2800!!! I will explore the title option when I get the stuff....I could always just rebuild everything over onto the "new" frame if I get a title for it. |

Some new riders with their beginners license will pay upwards of $5000 per year for a sport bike ........ |

Well I have everything in my possession and it is infact a works shock! The muffler is a stainless race can the tank fits and looks really nice. The frame has no title because they cut the vin plate off the neck and put it on a chopper frame. I would like to convert my bikes sub frame to accommodate the s1 seat and tail. The one way that Ive seen that appeals to me most is to slug the frame with 14 mm bar and pin it with bolts. Essentially this makes the sub frame convertible back and forth btwn the two seat styles if wanted. I'm looking for input on the seat swap....also looking for how to change out that shock. Ive read that i can change the shock out by placing a car jack btwn the subframe and rear wheel then remove the shock correct? Also how do I remove the front clamp that hold the remote resivour on the shock? Thanks Dave |

Shock is simple. Take the weight off the frame by using a ratchet strap to the trusses in your garage loosen the bolts and jack the swing arm till it is loose and pull the bolts. The stock res is a bolt through clamptake tge bolt out it will come off! Are you interested in selling the wind screen and maybe a few other parts? |

I will be so glad when this chopper fad finally runs its course. When the fad died the first time in the early 70's you couldn't give away one of those POS. |

S1owner, out of necessity, I found a different way of changing my shock. Simply unbolt the right side passenger peg, slide a screwdriver through the hole, use that as my jack point. The bike is light enough the side stand can take the weight. Only up in the air for a few minutes. Though, I do wish I had trusses to use! |

Yes, you can also use a scissor jack between the subframe and the swingarm to extend the suspension all the way out and unload the shock mounting hardware as well. Maybe use a small board to span the gap in the subframe rails and keep from damaging rear body work. This is a cat that can be skinned all sorts of ways. I like your idea of the frame lugs to make the two tails easily removable, kind of like the X1 tail. |
