Hi fellow tubers. I bought the Buell I always wanted in November- a 2001 Black s3t with PM wheels. She is bone stock but a few more ponies couldn't hurt? I have a Vance and Hines exhaust that came with the bike. Question: can I put on the V + H exhaust and notice any performance improvement (please remember she is Fuel Injected)or will she just sound faster LOL??? Do I have to do the Air Filter and ECM??? $300+ is much for the Race ECM, so I would rather not. Thank you in advance! |

You can remap your stock ecm, don't need to buy the race one. You won't notice much difference if you just change the exhaust. It is not very expensive to upgrade the stock filter element. |

In my experience...you'll give yourself a nice big hole in the powerband if you put the V&H on. But it'll be loud. If that's what you want. ANY significant change to the hardware will require an update to the software, to make it work properly. Exhaust, cams, compression, whatever - you change the "air pump", you're going to need to change it's brain to match. |

I ran a VH on the '99 S3 I had and now run it on my wife's '02 S3 that has a 1250 kit. I wouldn't call it loud, and there is no flat spot or hole in the power band then or now. Only change to the engine management was using a race ecm, which could be done to the stock ecm by remapping with ecm spy. YMMV |
