I have the X1 that breaks up at 4KRPM.. I was looking in more detail today at the bike , based on suggestions made here. SOMEWHERE in the last year or so apparently one of the shops left a tube off my forcewinder! I just ordered it. And coincidentally the lady said there is ANOTHER O2 sensor inside the forcewinder which could be screwed up from the missing pipe? Anyhow I'll see if that helps- should be here in the next week or so.. Does anyone know can I CLEAN or so any work on that internal O2 sensor. Thanks!  | ||

it is not a o2 sensor,it is inlet air temp sensor. if it was we i would stop messing with it until a got/ learned how to use ecm spy very simple and will pinpoint your problems | ||

I looked into ECM spy- Al told me it wont do anything for me unless my engine lite was on? Does that sound right? I dont have a lite on- but maybe it would still tell me whats what? | ||

What do you mean by "breaks" at 4K RPMs? What are you trying to do? What tube was missing? Please be a bit more clear so folks can help you. | ||

There is a tube that goes into the base of the back of the filter, next to the temp sensor tube, and from there into the tube attached to the head. It was missing. I *think* the last mechanic probably left it off. Bike idles fine, and runs OK up to 4000 RPM. There it *acts like* its rev-limiting and wont go higher. I can rev it all the way to redline in Neutral, no issues. I have the RACE ECM and no changes to the bike in many miles. It just started this issue a few months ago. I checked the injectors they spray strong. Replaced the fuel pump and O2 sensor. | ||

This is the same bike that came back from an HD dealer with parts hanging loose, missing, after an engine rebuild that the owner had done. There are many issues with this bike. And you do need ECMspy so you have an electronic tool in your toolbox to help you maintain and tune your bike. | ||

That is your breather tube and should have a split where it gets hooked to each head through separate tubes. Most folks route that to a catch can. Do a search for catch can and you'll find a lot of references to various options to get it done. As for the throttle response issue, the first place I'd check are the grounds. That includes battery connections, the junction box under the seat and the fat wire strap on the swing arm. Remove the wires and use a sand paper to clean any rust and/or paint from the washers and/or nuts. You may also want to check the ignition system starting from the plugs and then plug wires and the coil. But my money is on the ground or a cracked plug wire. Remember plug wire crack may not be visually detectable. Keep us posted on how you make out. | ||

OK I'll call Al today and order the Spy cable. No- my buell never came back with parts hanging. Mine is the the bike that the dealer left the transmission oil drained when he returned it! THanks.. | ||

Yes- Al at American Sport Bike said to check grounds too.. In fact it was his number 1 rule. I'm not really sure where they all are but this weekend I'll look for ground straps. | ||
