Woah that's weird! I have never seen anything like that. The stockers for our year are called the "boomarang" they go up to a link that goes to a longer lever on the tranny shaft. After 2001, they changed it over to a shaft that goes under and gets to short lever similar to the one you have. Looks like someone was trying to combine the two approaches? What happened to that bike? Oil tank missing, plugs missing? Did you find it outside somewhere? | ||

That is a Japanese brand, AELLA and it's called the "M Link". Search "Aella M link" in Google. Good luck! | ||

It looks good for either parts or a full restoration, but thats just me. With some work I suppose is could be a daily beater, assuming the motors not blown up along with all the weather damage caused by leaving it out side. Fork seals will fail and the fuel injection system will most likely give you fits as well. I tend to lean toward saving them in any capacity, but the community needs parts donors too. | ||

its not my bike but yes it was outside for a while somewhere Down-under I'd be cautious with this bike - particularly if it is a Japanese spec bike. The fan that aims cooler air was only factory equipped on Japanese spec X1's (Japanese spec S3's had the same fan with a slightly different bracket). It's possible that the fan was also added to later model year bikes for other markets by the factory, but - FWIW - I do not recall this happening. It's also entirely possible that it was added by the owner as the X1 fan kit was offered as an accessory (as well as the S3 fan kit was). The fan kits were added to Japanese spec DDFI bikes due to the poor quality of fuel used in Japan and the typical duty cycle (idling in traffic) which caused fuel to boil in the fuel rail. The only reason I'd be cautious is IF the bike is a Japanese spec bike, it COULD be a bike affected by the tsunami - but IF that were the case, I would expect it's condition to be much worse - particularly the muffler. So maybe I am worried over nothing. I must be getting old as I've never really been cautious before... 1313 | ||
