Dan, I assume that you are talking about the same sideplates mentioned a while back in Don Casto's S2/S3 thread. I think "Buellish" posted some pictures. If so I am interested but would attempt to powder coat the L/H to match the existing R/H one. Looking at pictures, it doesn't look to me like the RS kickstand would work. The RS sideplate may look the same (minus the rear peg hanger) but the kickstand appears to swing in a different plane. Perhaps you could confirm. Cheers Simon | ||

New machined matching side plates with a modified kick stand position that supported the bike in a more upright position would be nice. I would be in for one plate with a modified kickstand or if need be matching plates. | ||

Actually the source I had for new side plates was also Jim Gilbert. I was quoted $250 left/$150 so maybe if we all got together in a mass order we could get the price down. Left and right plates are completely different due to the additional sidestand mount. The left requires an additional 2 inches thickness in the raw billet plate before cutting! I am going to put my RSS and S2 up on stands and try swapping out stands to see if it works. If it does that is obviously the much cheaper way to go. | ||

Allright I tried swapping an RS sidestand onto my S1. THEY DON'T WORK!! It literally is trying to put a round peg into a square hole. it fits but it spins inside the mount and it would tip over. So that plan is out. I guess we will need to take a poll for interest and see what kind of deal Jim gilbert can give us. | ||

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe it's an Egli - Vincent. Fritz Egli made a few Vincent powered sport bikes using his chassis in the late '60s. I haven't had a chance to ride one yet, but maybe someday I'll have that experience to put alongside riding a Brough Superior SS100. | ||

I might be interested in the S2 side plate deal, but obviously price is an issue. Also, would this new left side plate look so different from the original right plate, that I'd need to purchase both? If not, what do you guys think the odds are I can have the new plate powder coated to match the original and the frame?? Henrik | ||

Simon, We would have to send the parts out to a powder coater which would cost more money obviously. Another Parkway Blue S2T!! Well I know where 6 are now. The right side plate is not required. Somebody might want one if the have a grey frame and want to go to the raw aluminum look on both sides however. So if I'm counting correctly I believe we could get an order for 6 left side plates. Howdy, I bought my 2000 S3 used w/out the benefit of a service manual and have found a used one on ebay, except that it's for a '97. Are these two vintages similar enough to mix and match, or should I keep looking? Thx, rek | ||

I picked up a spare S2 sidestand side plate a few years ago at a sidewalk sale. Wrong color but it will work. I think I'll play around with sidestand designs when I get some time next Spring. | ||

Keep us updated on the sideplate..REX I am sure Jack Van Voast would be interested in a more upright sidestand, as would fireman jim. when Jack loads up his bags, and other things, it is almost impossible to get the bike back up right, and when you go to park, it looks like he is ready to drop the bike, but then the sidestand takes hold...REX | ||

I still think the Wilson bend is the easiest way to go. Doing the bend takes considerable load of the side plate. I bent mine a bit more than usual, I had to make a "spring peg mover plate" out of a piece of 3/16 flat stock. I used it to move the peg forward 1" to get the proper pull angle on the newly bent side stand. I'll take a picture if anyone is interested. Brad | ||

I picked up an S-2 frame, swingarm, tank, oil tank, body work, seat, fairing, etc......so...maybe I will build an S-2 track bike, battletrax bike....now to get forks, a motor, etc..ahahaha...this is fun! | ||

The Parkway Blue '96 S2T in the above pics is my pride and joy!I bought the '95 Yellow Jacket Pearl S2 about a year and a half ago.And after riding it for a couple of months,I realized that nothing suited me like that Purple '96. So I traded the '95 for a '69 Camaro SS/RS ragtop.Now two people are the proud owners of one of Erik B's finest creations. I've ridden a variety of different bikes in the mountains of North GA,a 929,RC51,R1,S4 Monster, 916,Speed Triple,Sprint RS,BMW oilheads and airheads.And to me nothing has the sound,the feel,the handling and the sexy good looks of the S2.It just fits me like a glove. Damn!Glad I got that off my chest! The reason I was posting this in the first place was to say,that I was going to just get the left side plate from Jim Gilbert.And powdercoat it to match the dark grey frame and wheels. I got the name and number of Buells origional powdercoat supplier from Brankin Bremmer.But when I called them,they claimed that unless I could come up with the powder number for that particular gray they couldn't help me,as they sprayed several grays for Buell and '96 S2T frame gray didn't mean a thing to them. The only suggestions I got from the board in regard to the powder number,was to call the origional powdercoater.Been there/done that! Then I got the left sideplate off the UPS truck and saw the finish and decided that I couldn't cover it up.So I saved my pennys,nickels and dimes and bought the right side.And I'm glad I did.Its a machined bare aluminium finish that works well with all the polished bits on the S2's. I recently had the wheels and outside edge of the rear belt pully polished and that really added to the over all package. | ||

Rex, Here's the pictures. Sorry for the quality and the "spooky eye", it was a hand held under the bhe bike type shot. I forgot that I need to finish the plate! It's still not rounded off and painted. As you can see, it moves the spring pin over 1 inch. I just drilled and tapped for the spring pin and drilled a hole for the bolt to hold the plate into the existing spring pin hole on the kickstand side plate. Brad   | ||
