My Bike is a 2001 Buell X1

I picked up a transmission from Ebay. It is from a 1998 sportster. The thing had low miles, worked perfect before selling. I received it and noticed the Fifth gear has a different pitch than my Buell. Several people said it will be OK, so I installed it. Looks great so far. My question/problem is this. My speedo sensor rubs on the fifth gear just a little. and since it is a different pitch wont this throw my speedo off? Can I get a sportster sensor and use that?
