Well I'm in the process of a build on my buell and got everything but the motor and suspension out today. One snag I ran into is I cannot for the life of me get the hose off the left side where it's on the fitting with a nut. I removed the hose clamped and pulled as hard as I had the balls to and got nowhere. Any suggestions on getting it off? Or is it easier to remove the lines from the motor/primary and leave them attached to the tank?

Thanks,
Spencer

Take a small flat head and slide it in slightly and pry do that around the entire fitting and then it will be loose.

Push down from the top of the line so the id increases slightly. When you pull, it works like a Chinese finger trap i.e, stretches and gets tighter.

Heck, if it were me I would lean toward replacing them, in which case you can cut them off,but thats just me...

Kc, thanks for the tip, i like the example makes it real clear. what kind of line is used for them? As long as its not something real expensive ill probably just replace them. I already got new fuel lines and need to replace the compression fitting on the oil line from the pump to the oil filter as its got a very slight leak at the fitting

Thanks,
Spencer

Awesome thanks, I'll jus cut it and replace them all while I am at it.

On the compression fitting near the oil pump on the line that goes to the filter, do I need to order the replacement hose with fittings installed from the dealer or can you remove the fittings and just replace the fitting and use fresh hose?

I believe most of it is 3/8" fuel/oil line.

On the hose with the compression fitting, I did not replace it for that very reason. If its not hard and cracked, you could probably leave it alone. Just order one if you need to replace it. It's part number 63631-91 (hose, oil pump to filter).

I've actually got a little leak at the compressiOn fitting at the oil pump end so I need to replace mine, nothing bad just a drop or two on my shock occasionally but might as well replace it while I'm at it. Do you know where I can order that part besides the dealership? I googled the number and came up with nothing

Thanks

Found another thread where a uses got the same hose made in braided stainless steel for $12 from midwest hose. Would it cause any problems to replace all the oil lines with braided stainless hose? I figure for a little bit more it will make things a lot more aesthetically pleasing.

Yep 62631-91, my bad. Braided is cool, but it will rub the paint right off the frame...so you have to make sure it doesn't make contact anywhere.

That little oil line would look nice in braided for sure!
