well got heads & barrels off my M2 00, motor still in frame. i wanted to fit new rings & service heads. lucky i did as planing a long ride soon and noticed it uses some oil. motor looked ok but the valve stem seals had came loose so were not sealing & oil was getting in chamber. also looks like heads have been off before as aftermarket gaskets & one head gasket looked like it was on way out, not a good quality head gasket eather. i got new three piece head gaskets & new gasket kit. i'm going to shorten barrels to bring swish band closer & use Andrews adjustable push rods, i also have some SE 1.72 ratio rockers will also put slightly stronger inner valve spring to raise seat pressure about 30 pound & fit adjustable ignition so i can custom advance curve. the rear ppipe was out of the head as the retaining clip had slipped over seems to have lost tention will fit new pipe clips. flywheels seem ok. should be riding it again in two days |

Goody, yes one had more carbon than the other. when i first got the bike the crank breather was in the aircleaner. i removed that, then ran it on gas that cleans injectors on EFI motors. it had cleaned up the intake ports like new. but as the valve stem seals were off the head and not sealing i think oil went down there. but was not too carboned up, as i had been drag racing the week before i pulled heads off. Just got it together last nigh & fired it up, needed ti go up in pilot jet two sizes. will ride today but boy is it sounding sharp in the throtle! had to machine 60 thou off the barrles just to get the swish band to be 40 thou clearance my friend blended valve seats & cut the seat angles for best Toque also stock cams but 1.72 ratio SE rockers ( look like stock, this will open valves quicker & close them quicker so should give more mid range Torque will see when i ride it today |

Goody I just took it for a good ride, weather very hot here. Bike runs strong & lot more smooth torque, I have a shift light & the revs go up a lot faster the motor pulls strong inexcelleration from idle off lights the shift ligh just comes on that much quicker & bike beautifully to ride on road with stock cams 1.72 rockers & cleaned up heads stock valves just re seated & three angle valve job blended valve seats exhaust port was restrictive b4 but improved now Also my gearbox shifts great & clutch now works great too I put Redline MTL oil in gearbox Wow what a difference will see what it does standing quarter in after Xmas about three weeks time |

Captainkirk, took it to the track twice since finished , i had had it to the track before updates to motor a number of times. so knew what i could do on the bike. i never really push it, but road the same way & sixty foot time improved noticibly, & half track speed is 5MPH faster full quarter speed 6MPH faster weather coniditions about the same air quality has been around the same average. so i think it's a good gain untunned stock cams stock valve sizes stock 2" pipe i'm waiting till my friend has time to test & maybe change tune on Dyno, also have SE bolt in cams to drop cranking pressure as its a bit high @ 215pound but no knocking on 98 octain pump gas will be looking for pipes & muffler also & maybe adjustable ignition will post latter when test on dyno, will test as is then latter with bolt in cams adjustable ignition might pull muffler off on dyno to test what that shows. |
