I have a X1 frame that I have stripped and polished to an awesome finish. Now I want to seal in the shine and keep the rust out. I'm getting mixed reviews of what to use. any suggestions? looking into industrial clear coats. I have been told any 2k automotive clear will work?. I want durable and clear gloss. Im not powdercoating. So. That being said. Any Suggestions? or personal experiences with this? I found this product, waiting to hear back from the sales rep to see if this will do the job http://www.cloverdalepaint.com/info/pdf_tds_in/h40-0065.pdf (Message edited by serialk on November 10, 2012) |

If its polished to an "awesome finish" have it Nickel plated, you won't regret paying the difference in price in the long run. |

Agree with Jramsey...I have had several nickel plated "Dirt Track frames" and enjoyed the look and ease of cleaning and maintaining them. |

my experience with clear shot over polished metal has not been good. every time ive seen it done it has started to peal and flake off after a few months. +2 with Jramsey with the nickel plating. looks great and is way durable. A couple of our helicopter engines are plated and look pretty damn good. the pilots drool over them and swear they have more power. Shiny=Fast. I wont correct them. |

I just bit the bullet. Frame is at the plating house. She is going Nickel. 2 Weeks till I get it back.

I have seen this done before and you will shed manly tears when you see how beautiful it is. |

My S1 will get the nickel plate treatment in the not so distant future. With all the polished aluminum, the nickel will be simple overkill. |

I just bought a beautiful nickel revolver. It had deep nicks on the muzzle...only bad thing about nickel is there are no touch-ups |
