Well i was checking steering head bearing & lifting front forks to check if had movement and was surprised to see how much the front issolator lets forks move. so can see just how the stenzel bar would work. |

??????????? why would the Stenzel bar affect the movement of the front forks ? movement of the forks in relation to the frame is purely controlled by the steering head bearings. |

yes i know the steering head is in the frame and not atached to front issolator but, when i have front wheel off ground front wheel removed & i grip the two fork legs to check steering head play there is movement. the front lower stabilizer moves forward to back |

I think that movement is planned. One end of that stablizer is atached to the motor which is rubber mounted. More proberly what is happening is that you are moving the frame and the motor is resisting some of that movement. If you ar getting movement with a very mild push on the forks I think something is wrong with one of the rubber mounts. I'm not a tech however so take this with a grain of salt but make sure you are fixing the right thing. |

Lakes, the cylinder walls are twice as thick as the stock liners. They are steel, you can see them in the pics. The liners are thinner at the bottom, no taper that I can remember. Here is a pic of where I am at. I hope to have her fired up in a few weeks. I had to order a new neutral safety switch, oil pressure switch (I crunched it moving the engine), grommets for the oil tank, minor stuff but I hope to have it on the wheels soon.

Can you take pictures of when you put it on? I ordered one a while back and found the instructions not very instructive. Thanks! |

Hi Jayvee , i'm still waiting for the Stenzel bar, had a problem, sent him the money via paypal, my account said the money sent but not claimed. he could not find the money, he tried a few times. so i took the money back, told him to bill me on paypal, so thats what he did, i got that & payed him. so still waiting. Goody thanks, yes the barrels have a thick wall linner that would be good as i think the stock linner a bit thin. and after a while would not seal as well, a thicker linner should have a better seal hold its round better. Hammer have a barrel the same do the two companys just sell the same barrel? in the past ( long time back ) i've seen guys here in Australia have issue's with Axtell nodular iron barrels. seen a guy runing 6thou piston skirt clearance on an EVO big twin stroker useing those barrels & another guy with a shovel stroker useing the Big Bore Axtel finned barrels & the both of them had pistons sieze up in the bore. But have also known guys that race, that use Axtell Barrels no fins and had no problems, but they only ran the quarter mile. not riding all day. but i'm not an expert so no idea why. just mentioning this. who make hammer barrels? also i have not been able to get on this sight for a week? Wow I fitted the Stengel bar today & went on a 49k ride though traffic & bumby twisty roads. The improvement in feel & handling is just amazing. It stops the forward to rearward movement of motor & gearbox on rubber mounts. Nor tons did the same thing. The bike feels smooth, love the improvement. It was not a straight bolt in as I have last update front isolator. But machined up adaptor, got slightly longer grade 12.5 Allen bolt. I use the same size bolt as the old isolator had not the small one that came with the last update isolator. The Stengel,l is a worthwhile addition. |

Wow, glad to hear its noticable, and an improvement. Some say it couldn't possibly work, why didn't the factory do it, etc. Could you describe the "adaptor" in any more detail? Or, perhaps a picture of the installation? |

Jayee, my friend that helped me is an Ex A grade road racer, he used to race an X1 buell for a few seasons & was sponsored he still get to the track & has a collection of MC's of all types & makes he just loves them. He has always said after riding my bike he can feel it flex, we put new bridgstone battlax tires on & he said how much better but could feel it flex still, he did not know of the stenzel bar then i got mine showed him, he liked the idea. After we got it fitted he test road the bike fast through some really twisty roads , he came back that happy and said how well & how much better the bike feels with that stenzel bar on much tighter not flexing the front wheel does not bounce as much at Idle eather. i had warn tires they had warn out flat and when i put new tires on the bike felt better in corners, well the Stenzel bar has made it feel even better in corners and cornering over rough sections of road. it was not easy to fit. we had to get all wirring out the way. it had a counter sunk part at front end for the early type issolator to fit into. the last update issolator is different too wide to fit into the counter sink, so we machined up a spacer to fit into the counter sink. then found, the stock early style thick bolt was only just long enough to tighten the nut up to the end of the thread, but there was no thread through the nut. so we felt it would be better to get a longer bolt. we knew the stock one was grade 12, so went to a fastener shop they had a grade 9 zinc coated or a Unbrako Allen head grade 12.5 i took the allen head & high tenstile washer. i also have billit front engine mount & top stabilizer that goes from engine mount to frame as well as the other two. we had to loosten the engine mount bolts and had bike up on bike stand with a jack under front shock mount. had to adjust the hight of jack few times to get the longer allen head bolt up through it we then loostened up the engine stabiliser bar thats up on top of frame we put one end of stabilizer on top of stenzel bar then tentioned the front engine mount bolt holding the front of stenzel bar up. the stenzel bar then sits up at the back, it came with washers to space that end we used stock spacer & some washers that came with the bar then put the engine stabilizer on top tentioned the bolt got back to look cleck everything was lined up and the stenzel bar fitted perfect! was flat & true we could see that just by gatting back so we could look. was not easy & will be one more job to do when i lift my heads & barrels to service top end & hone barrels and check out inside motor before working out what to do in there. hope you could understand my ramblings. its not easy to describe. but well worth the effort in my oppinion. cheers |
