The screen to your fuel pump may have begun to dissolve due to gasohol. Take the tank off, drain it with a siphon tube, and invert it & shake. Take the fuel cap mounting ring off if you like; compressed air would help, too. This would explain poor fuel flow at low demand. Higher demand might make the flap of gauze stay out of the fuel flow. |

Don: Welcome to BadWeb. You should do a TPS reset. If you don't have ECMspy, get it. You'll need the cable that connects the diagnostic port on your bike to your computer USB port. You'll probably have to play around with the TPs reset several times until you get the correct "0" that the TPS reset likes to see. If you don't have a service manual, get one. Great help when you need things in B&W. American Sport Bike has them if you don't. Great resource for parts too. If you haven't adjusted your drive belt, do so. When unloaded, push down on the top and the belt should be able to touch the swingarm. This is called "scary loose" as we say around here. If the drive belt is adjusted to service manual specs, you will destroy the bearing in your transmission from the load exerted on them. And check out your tight spot on your primary chain inside the primary chain case. You want it to be about 3/4" at the tightest "tight spot" on the chain when cold. Change your primary fluid 1x per season. I use HD Formula+ in both of mine. Set up your suspension too. Midrange all settings and adjust to your liking from there. I like your profile...studied philosophy and now a machinist. Funny where life takes us This board is a great site for all things Buell...enjoy And check out the BRAN, that is, the Buell Rider Assistance Network. You'll have to log in to find that forum, about fourth from the top of the list. It will show you some other Buell nuts in your area or close by. |

First couple of questions: 1) Did it start doing this all of a sudden or its gotten worse over time, 2) when did you reset your TPS? Depending on how much it sputters, it could be, 1) normal with the lower ambient temperatures or 2) faulty temperature sensors(s); air intake or head or 3) could be leaky injector(s). My X1 is generally cold-blooded and likes to get warmed up before responding well to throttle. You'll need ECMspy to rule out some of the culprits and reset the TPS. |

New plugs would be a quick easy measure. I'd change the in line fuel filter as well. "Easiest first" |
