I'm in the market for a new battery for my 2000 x1, any recommendations? |

The Harley batt is solid. I've been running a Yuasa YTZ10S in my S1 for years. It's a bit lighter, smaller, and has plenty of juice. |

Got one from O'Reilly's, $80 works great. |

harley battery is made by Deka. I recommend you just go straight with them instead of buying second hand from harley. They are possibly one of the best sealed AGM batteries on the market, without going designer brand... (Odyssey etc...) They are also repackaged and sold as Magna brand at Autozone, and I'm sure a few others. But yes... If not a deka, you could spend some change and get a Shorai... new square cell lithium. |

Thanks for the feed back guys, another quick question- I currently have a "Big crank ETX20L " but it's needing to be on the tender to maintain enough power to fire, it was put in by the bikes previous owner in feb 2009 so its about 3 1/2 years old (here's the question) is that about normal for a battery and will I get longer life with an odyssey or similar ? |

thats about a normal life span for a battery.... especially with vibrations like these bikes give off.... More than likely you have fractures in the lead plates... I would NOT go with an odyssey.... |

@Fox-- Is there any reason other than the colour that you don't like the odyssey, the specs look ok. Would a lithium battery be any great benefit over the standard type ? |

I have installed several odysseys in cars over the years, and generally have had nothing but trouble with them. They seem to be very delicate and temperamental. They may have used to be a good battery company, but I'm just wary of them now. Lithium is tripple the price and 1/5th the weight. Expect a decent lithium battery to be about 300CCA and 2 pounds. |

I agree with what Foximus said re: HD batteries (DEKA) I bought two DEKAs for my S1Ws & one for a friend's FXR from a guy on evilbay. He was offering free shipping within the lower 48 states. Couldn't be happier with them or his service. By the way, both Buells had HD batteries in them & one was 10 yrs old! |

Another recommendation for the HD battery. You can easily get 6 years if you use a battery maintainer when not in use. |

...and if the distance isn't an issue, I paid $8 less at the dealership than I could have gotten it for at Wallyworld. Go figure. |

My original Odyssey battery made it six years. All the rest have been averaging about two (including a replacement Odyssey). All the generic auto parts store batts have died in mere months. |

I priced the Deka battery locally and the Deka-made H-D battery was cheaper. It always pays to check. Let your fingers do the walking, the prices seem to vary from dealer to dealer. One more thing: It took me forever to figure out the trick for replacing the battery. The cable interfere with removing and replacing the battery UNLESS you hold the cables together in the middle of the tray. It drops in effortlessly if you do this. |

Go with a lithium ion battery. They only weigh like 5lbs and still have the CCAs. |

I got a shorai that is less than 2 lbs, a third the size and has no trouble turning over the engine. As long as you don't have any parisitic draws on the system you can leave it for months without putting it on the trickle charger. It was only about $120, too I have heard horror stories on some of the boards about lithium batteries made by other manufactures literally exploding |

I got one from American Sport Bike. It's a Drag Specialty, made by Yuasa. |

As many opinions as battery choices, thanks for all the feedback. I've been preoccupied with a more pressing issue which I hope I've solved. I noticed that I had a fuel leak, so I finally found time to chase the leak back to the line going into the T piece which goes into the injectors. |
