How soon should the oil pressure warning light turn on when engine is turned off? Less than 10s? Pretty much immediately? For the past couple days, I noticed that sometimes it took longer than a couple of seconds that I used to see whenever I shut the engine off. Last night it was the longest when I got helmet and gloves off before the oil pressure light finally showed. I check oil level every few hundreds miles, usually after a 20-something miles run, and never required more than a few oz to top off. Never had any oil pressure light as this is my daily commute to work, fun run, and even grocery. Roderick |

I turn mine off with the key so all indicator lights go out immediately. Are you running 20-50? |

I have an X1 and mine comes on almost as soon as I stop the engine. Check the connection to the bulb to make sure its nice and tight. |

Most likely nothing to worry about, but I would replace the sender just to be sure. And check to make sure all vent lines are not clogged and the catch can (if you have one) is properly vented. Good Luck! |

Are you running 20-50? Yes. M1 20-50. ...would replace the sender just to be sure. Got one on hand from the local H/D dealer. It is somewhat hit-and-miss. Today the oil pressure light came on just about instantly every time the engine switch is 'off'. I will remove the pressure sender and give it a good cleaning and see what happens. |

Is there a check ball valve behind the oil adapter like the X1 has? It could be going bad. The spring on it is the only thing keeping the oil from draining back to the oil tank. If it is going bad it could affect the flow of oil but im really not sure on that?????? I would clean and re-crimp the connector on the sending unit also. |

Sometimes the spring pushes the ball back so slow it does make a connection right away but if the motor was running the vibrations would make it ground instantly!. So no worry... |
