Bypass the ign switch and see if the problem goes away. Simple enough to do, might save lots of searching ...... |

Pull the fuses and relays. Clean the contacts and fuse block too. |

My S3T I bought new in '97 had that problem back then. Lights came on after parked and killed the battery. The ignition switch and battery were replaced under warranty. I've been keeping an eye on my current S3 to see if it is a common problem. |

This is a safety feature for emergency parking. Push down (depress) the ignition key (when) as you turn off the ignition to bypass the parking lights function. (Message edited by alfau on September 23, 2012) |

Regularly spray it with silicone spray or similar to loosen it up. while your at it spray all your locks. It could be stuffed, they don't like to run dry. |

Do not spray any oil into an electrical contact area. Use electrical contact cleaner for that. Auto parts store has it. |

same deal here. I have to look at the taillight when I shut it down to make sure I'm not gonna be surprised when I come back to it |

I like silicone spray because it does not dry out. However lubricants can and do gather dust. Flush the lock free of dust and water with the spray as often as you wash the bike or it's out in the weather. (Message edited by alfau on September 24, 2012) |
