The fuel injected bikes have the pump inside the tank. That is way too much pressure for the float bowl to handle.
You would have to remove the pump assemble and fab up a petcock.

I should have been a little clearer . Its a tank off ebay that looks stripped , looks like no pump and petcock . Its the right color right price and looks decent .

You are aware that they are held on differently too, right?
Ugly black fuel cell is held on by the painted cover.

Incorrect.

X1 and S2 were the only tubers with fuel cells covered by cosmetic bodywork.

You can mount it easily, but getting all the fuel out will mean drilling a petcock hole at the low point of the tank and plugging both fuel pump holes. Watch out for clearance issues between the rear head and the petcock.

The fuel cells are not held on by the bodywork.

OK OK. The rear clamp clamps both the cell and also the cover.
Sorry.
As I recall, there isn't a whole bunch o clearance between the top of the engine and the bottom of the tank either.
What is your goal of changing tanks over?

That is true on the x1 but not on the s2

An S3 (which is what the OP asked about) uses a Manta tank just like an M2. Only difference is plumbing - pump and return, versus petcock.

Fuel pump holes can be sealed by short bolts with the heads inside the tank, sealed by flat nylon washers (also inside the tank). No leaks in three years; mounting the petcock was more than one step.
