I want to put a remote operated alarm system to deter the theft of my X1. I was wondering if any of you guys have one on your bikes and if so what do you have. Thanks. |

xena disc alarm. cant move it, cant roll it, cant sit on it without it screaming 110db... best bang for your buck. all others are a pain in the ass or easy to rip out.... at the end of the day if someone wants your bike bad enough. They will take it regardless. |

I've always felt that a hidden GPS device for locating the bike is better than an alarm. Once an alarm sounds off, a quick clip of the battery wire silences it. Alarms sound off so often in many neighborhoods, they're often ignored. When I hear one, my first thought is that someone has left their alarm on and something innocent (or inconsequential) is setting it off - not that someone may be breaking into or stealing the vehicle. As was said above "...if someone wants your bike bad enough, they will take it". I'd rather have a shot at getting it back than being pissed that no one responded to the alarm. |

My Xena would go off anytime it rained or if dew settled on it in the morning. My current theft deterrent is leaving it very dirty. Has been very effective thus far. |

I used a Xena once. Cam back out after a full day of work and it was sqawking that its battery was low. Cold makes batteries less effective. In my opinion, your best bet is to chain it down to something. |

Yea, I think the best way to go here is use a GPS tracking device. Where to mount it so that it is out of the vision of a thief is a concern because if they see it they can take it off. Does anyone use a tracking device on their bike? |
