My 99 S3T has run rough since I purchased it a year ago. It feels like it is dropping a cylinder. It is worst in the warm up circuit and gets a little better as the bike comes up to temperature. I notice it most in the closed circuit and the higher the rpm the less noticeable the miss. At freeway speeds and around 4000 rpm the miss is no longer noticeable. These are things I have tried. New o2 sensor, new plugs, new intake seals, seafoam in fuel, reset TPS, checked ground connections.I also downloaded the race maps and the buell carbon race filter along with V&H exhaust. None of these things made even the slightest difference. When I ran ECM spy diagnostics the only thing that came up was a past history code saying there had been an ignition coil short to ground. Things I haven't tried. Plug wires, New ignition coil, head temp sensor. I just turned 20K miles and drive the bike daily. Any ideas would be helpful? Thanks |

Also according to the Buell manual the ohms values are OFF, which I think is a typo Sportster Manual states right values on coil Primary resistance (1) is around 2.5 ohms Secondary resistance(2) is around 12.5kohms (Message edited by wack01 on September 15, 2012) |

Cam Position Sensor; it can give extra sparks at low rpm and then work fine at higher speeds. |

Also check the wires into the fuel injectors they have been known to break right at the connector. |

+1 on plug wires. Sounds like a typical symptom of a marginal plug wire(s). Easy and cheap to rule out. |

The coil wires also have a habit of failing under the tank, usually within a foot of the coil. |

David, read my post here http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/674932.html?1333692447 beginning on April 1, 2012 and see if any of this sounds familiar. I have been chasing a stuttering/skipping issue for quite some time and have yet to completely eliminate it. I hope you're successful, so I'll know more of where to go from here on my own 99 S3T. |

Thanks Guy's, I will explore all your suggestions. I have owned twin cylinder 2 strokes with the same type miss where new plug caps totally solved the issue. I'm hoping its that easy. Bikerrides, I will check out your post and let you know my findings and hopefully work this thing out. |

i always post this when someone has a sputtering/missing problem... don't forget to check for vacuum leak at the injector lower o-rings. it got me one time on my old 99 x-1. after i did the intake gaskets a couple times. easy test, spray some brake clean or something ion them when it's running. good luck! |
