This problem just started recently and I haven't modified anything. After I have been riding the bike for a little bit my left signals quit working. If I let it sit overnight then go try them, they work. I read some old posts and it sounds like there is some kind of turn signal unit on the bike that can go bad. I was a little confused cause it seemed like some people said it was on the frame and others said it was in the speedo. Anyways, I'd like to fix it and need to know which part I should get and where to get it. I'd like to get the original style unit so they work like they did before. | ||

The module is on the frame behind the battery.I have never had a module go bad through ownership of four S2/S2T's.Other owners have had to replace the module.There is a reed switch in the speedometer which sends a signal to the module.In my research I could not find a way to replace the reed switch.I recently had to replace my speedo because the reed switch was bad (thank you Jack). If you have a service manual there are test procedures for turn signal operation.If you don't have a manual you should get one. | ||

Thanks, I'll check with my manual. It looks like, regardless of which part is bad, it's gonna be pretty hard to find an original replacement. | ||

I checked last year and the modules were still available at the dealer.The parts guy will tell you it's obsolete.You then ask politely if he will check through vintage parts (where old HD/Buell remaining stock goes when the mother ship doesn't want to carry it in regular stock) hopefully he's a nice guy and will help. Turn signal canceller original part number 68755-94Y I didn't find the speedometers to be available.You have to find a good used one. | ||

and to clarify - the reed switch is only to cancel the signal based on distance. If it goes bad, you can always cut the wire from it to the module, and have manual-cancel signals. | ||

The reed switch wire,where it comes out of the speedo,is green and white. I have definitely gotten spoiled by the self cancelling signals.I do go back and forth from the S2 and bikes that don't have a self canceling feature,but when I get on an S2,after owning S2's for 12 plus years,I expect them to work. | ||

My bike had a similar problem and all it was was the white multi-pin plug that connects into the turn signal module had dirty connections. When it acted up once I stopped and reached down and wiggled the plug and the signals started working again. I took the plug off the back of the module and scrubbed it with a toothbrush soaked in WD-40 and cleaned the pins on the module the same way. Put it back together and it's been fine ever since. | ||

Interesting to know about speedometer. I kinda wondered how these signals worked. 4speeder- I'll have to check that out and see if that fixes it. I haven't had a chance to even look at the bike this week, so as soon as I figure out what the deal is I'll post the results. | ||

I know its been a while, but I figured I'd update this for future folks with this issue. 4speeder was right on, I took the connector off and scrubbed it, then applied dielectric grease and hasn't been a problem since. | ||
