Bought a brand new set of PMs to mount on my 99 S3T. They are the wheels w/out the slots for the later tubers and wouldn't have come as OEM on my bike; they have the size stamped on the rim followed by DOT 01 11 PM. Does that mean they were made in November, 2001?

If so, what fitment issues might I encounter as a result of the model year difference? I read a post on here where someone had the rear caliper carrier scrub the lip on the wheel at the bearing after putting the later model wheel on an earlier tuber; there was discussion/disagreement about how to fix it, if to do anything at all.

I just want to make sure that when I buy tires and get ready to put the wheels on my bike that I will be prepared for any issue that might arise.

Also, once they're on, I'll have a very clean set of Nuke Blues for sale.

Thanks for the help and advice.

They will fit fine, but the PM's use a thinner bearing on one side , as far as I can recall its a 6205 same as the other two on the other side of the wheel, as opposed to a 62205 (wider) on the standard wheel, this causes the binding on the caliper if you use the skinny one on the standard wheel.
S2 wheels have a thicker lip at the bearing.

CONFUSED ? so am I

Clear as mud. Anyone know if the part# for the rear caliper carrier changed after 1999 when the PM spokes changed. What about the small spacer on the right/pulley side?

Mick, I'm from North Augusta, SC; I didn't know there was an Augusta in Australia.

putting xb rims on my x1. I had the 3 spoke pm rims on my bike before. ditching the stock brake carrier and all spacers.

i didn't think anything changed between the 3 spoke slotted and non slotted rims.

If these will work for you, i got them for sale if interested
