I am in the process of replacing my clutch and fixing my second gear. I have on oil leak up around the top of the engine by the starter. It is not bad but enough to make a little mess. My question is what area could passably be leaking? I was thinking about removing the starter and replacing the gasket. Suggestions???? |

the stator grommet goes through the case just forward of the starter. |

Might also be the rear base gasket. |

The starter itself is notorious for loosening= tighten starter to engine. |

My money is on the starter gasket. Pop the primary cover off to access the two allen bolts that hold it on. |

If you're replacing the clutch, you already have the primary cover off. Remove the bolts that hold the starter, and put a new gasket on, while you're "in there". |

While you have access to the clutch it is a good time to "PRODUCT IMPROVE" your clutch and get the SPRING PLATE(aka GRENADE PLATE) out of there ... If you do not have the "HOW TO INFO", just PM me ... |

Ditto what Buellistic said. I did this on my clutch, big improvement. |
