Okay, long back story on this bike, but short story is...was sitting from 04 thru 2010, guy could not get it to run and it sat in his garage..he would putz every once in awhile with it and eventually it started to leak oil..he got fed up with it and gave it to me as he knew i had some harleys and worked on bikes on the side. He had carb all screwed up(S&S E)got it started in short order but she is leaking badly from trans main shaft...First question, is this a big deal to resolve if only the outer seal? I have no Sporty/Buell trans experience. I will post individual questions after this w/ pics. Thanks in advance, Rob

Just a guess, but with the chain conversion it may not have the correct seal-spacer combo?

Or as noted in the other thread, the chain being way too tight has side-loaded the output shaft, causing the seal to leak.

Put a belt back on that thing. : )

Ratbuell, yeah, kind of thinking the same thing as chains are messy and sort of high maint...PO went to chain because they kept breaking the belt on the dyno I'm told...I am not even close enough to a good sport bike rider to really use the power of this thing but on the drag strip I can hold my own..Thinking this is going to see a lot of 1/4mile at a time runs..Thanks Again, Rob
