I took my S2 to the dealer to have the WP fork rebuilt. Well, its been there for over 3 weeks and they tell me they can't find the parts. I found almost I everything I need at americansportbikes.com except for the o-rings. My question is are the o-rings anything special or can I use any 40mm o-ring? Say, from say a KTM? Anyone have a set of o-rings or a set of forks already done/new? |

If you're talking about the large o-ring for the fork cap I'd think any o-ring the same size would work. If you can measure the cross-section thickness and the O.D. of the old one I might be able to help. |

My M2 had really bad leaky forks when I bought it from the PO. I had a set of Leak Proof promoly seals put in. 2500 mi later still no leaks. You don't have to buy them here of course, but here is a link so you can see what the product is. http://thunderproducts.com/Leakproofforkseals.htm Cheers |

Here's a chart that shows the best o-ring material based on fluid compatibility, it is under the general properties of o-rings tab; http://www.mcmaster.com/#o-rings/=i4vrlv Mike |

Don't really worry about the choices. For most motorcycle applications, when in doubt go with viton as it will resist gasoline. For all other applications you can get by with Buna N, but it isn't a good choice for gasoline service. I prefer to remove all doubt and just stick with Viton, personally. There are other applications and considerations but for the most part you don't need worry with them. If you get into some other area that requires something more specialized than Viton, you'll probably learn about it as you need to. |
