Hello everyone! I have a 1998 S1W, I bought off my uncle wrecked and I'm looking for some new parts, but I definitely don't want to go with stock My father and I recently built the motor, trans, and carb. Then we put the Daytona TwinTec in it, so she's a rocket now But, the reason behind this thread, my rear shock is blown out. I need to get a new one, but I was wondering if there is a bolt on upgraded shock, say from a X1, or XB, or something of the sort. If anyone knows what other years, and models shock will fit, I'd greatly appreciate it! |

All tuber shocks are interchangeable.if you have the 16.5" any 16.5 will work same with the 14.5". Now if you want a 14.5" and you have a 16.5 you just need the matching front shock mount. Now go with a works or penske to avoid future shock issues or speed of color sells a kit to put a standard push shock on instead of a pull shock then you can use almost any off the shelf shock i think it is designed for a Ducati shock |

S1owner is right in that all shocks of the same length can interchange and will fit. However, in the later (preferred) shorter Showa shocks there are at least two different valving assemblies - which dictate ride application . As an example, per the '02 manuals, the X1 uses K0431.9, and the S3 uses the K0431.M Using the incorrect shock on your bike won't make a huge difference - but it may be different than intended. |
