Ok so what could I use to remove old paint from the tank and fairin?? The repaint on the tank is horrible I just like to remove it and just primer it black any tips on what not to use chemical wise on the tank?? |

i just sanded the paint off mine. No chemicals used to strip it. |

Tank is made of nylon, chemicals are not a great idea. Just sand as Duc said. Also make sure to have a flex agent added to your paint, and give plenty of cure time before adding fuel, a few days in the hot summer sun until it stops smelling of fumes is best. The self adhesive 3D raised lettering is still available from the Buell supporting dealer network. American Sport Bike may sell them as well and there are also some cool options for decals on ebay too, stay away from the $50+ one's though unless there's just no other option. |

ok thnks for the info and where to get the decals as well...now i need to see if someone has a spare carb they like to get rid off as i put a hole on mine just need a bare one everything else i can put on from mine if you guys know let me know please. |

There is a thread in the archives explaining the correct "factory" method of painting the tank. As one who did not, I suggest you follow the instructions in the thread. Do a search and see if you can find it. |
