Trying to drain and change the primary fluid on my new-to-me 99 cyclone. How the %#*K do you get the V&H rear exhaust hanger off in order to drain the case??? Absolutely stumped. And frustrated. Becoming slightly embarrassed. Please help! |

There are two bolts that go down thru the rear mount and into a dog bone shaped retainer that has two threaded holes in it. I use a ratcheting box end wrench and a regular wrench in 1/4 turn increments to unscrew the bolts. The retainer sits inside the band that wraps around the muffler. The two bolts are accessed from the front and back of the hanger. Hope that helps. SteveH |

Because the V&H doesn't have the factory "dent" that OEM and Buell Race mufflers have, to clear the drain bolt head. Carbon, or aluminum, muffler? Easiest is, on either one: - loosen clamp from header to muffler - remove 2 bolts that hold top of rear hangar to engine cases - rotate muffler down without removing from header - drain fluid - rotate muffler back up - tighten clamp FIRST - tighten hanger LAST |

Why do you have to remove the muffler ??? Because I got tired of sucking the oil out of the clutch cover with a soda straw. remove 2 bolts that hold top of rear hangar to engine cases You make it sound like this is easy. I can't figure out how to get anything bigger than a pair of tweezers up in there to those bolts. Suggestions? That's where I was stumped. Thanks |

It is easy. Socket, swivel, 8" extension, ratchet - use on the nut end. Box end on the bolt head to hold it in place. |

Yeah, I ended up siphoning the oil out via the clutch cover. This was the first fluid change I did since purchasing the bike and wanted to drain it proper the first time but to no avail. Cest le vie. |
