You have discovered why belts have a tight spot and the belt will not run true in the sprocket !!!

Ok, so enlighten me. What was the issue with your pulley that shaving some metal from the face is meant to resolve?

Speaking of rear pulleys, I notice that mine looks different from others that I've seen, or at least others that I've paid attention to. It definitely looks different from the one pictured above.

Is this an aftermarket item? One from a different model? Other than the hole pattern, is there any difference from the others? Just curious...

I am not resolving any issue other than
aesthetics. Ever since new the face of my rear pulley was badly machined and or dropped. Nothing serious ,but not perfect. I figured I would spend some time making it cleaner looking. Actually it is within .003" of being true. I do not have issues with tight spots. Imaposer= yours appears to be stock ,just machined for a differrent look or lightening. I was thinking along the same lines but not quite as drastic as yours as I have seen failures frome too much material removal. I reworked the face and I might make the holes slightly larger and still keep them round. I actually printed a picture of yours from another post you made for inspiration. I was hoping others would chime in or post pics on what they did to the stock one.

American Sport Bike used to sell modified rear pulleys years ago, though I don't think was one of the designs he sold, it is attractive looking though!

The newer model Buell pulleys have a pretty 'thin' looking, spider-webby design, compared to the old look. Are they a different material?

Don't invest too much effort in your pulley.
I can see some surface irregularities on the belt teeth. Is the Chrome rearing off?

Once the Chrome starts to flake, the little fragments eat your belt.

My suggestion is to get a new pulley and make that one pretty instead.

Also, be careful how much meat is removed. Some on this board removed too much and it wasn't as strong as it needed to be.
It's only cast aluminum after all.
