Not thinking it s a big issue but just wondering if anyone else has had this issue. Its on a 2000 x1, on deceleration without pulling in the clutch it squeaks. Almost like a bird chirping sound. Not sure if i need to adjust the clutch or what. hopefully its preventative maintenance. I know its not any plastic rattling or sliding together. Any help/advice is very appreciated
Thanks
Dan

With the clutch engaged on decel, the trailing edges of the belt teeth are rubbing against the trailing edges of the teeth on the pulleys. Might simply be belt noise.

Raise the rear wheel and spin it both directions ...

Belt lube or silicon, "BUT" nothing that will make the belt sticky ...

You drive belt should have 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 inches play on the belt tight spot ...

Another factor to think of here:
When engine baking, the engine will shift forward from the torque reaction.
Check your front isolator for loose hardware.

I got that bird chirping sound on my S2
Turned out to be a head gasket in the process of blowing out. Rode it to the dealer and he listened to it and said "thats the way they all sound, no problem here". A second mech rode it and the gasket popped out.

Don't know about that, but the first guy slunk back into the shop when the gasket popped out.

The sound was very distinctive, like a chirp. I thought it was a belt problem.
