Hi I was wondering if anybody with a parts manual could tell me if the dampener in the right and left fork are the same? I know that each fork has a different job so I'm assuming they are not but figured I'd ask since there are people on this forum way more knowledgeable than myself. Thanks |

My X-1 parts book shows both dampers as being the same. The only difference between forks seems to be the slider assembly, for things like brake calipers, and axle mounting. |

Thanks for the reply, but what year X1 parts book do you have? |

The only reason i ask is because i was under the impression that most of the X1's cam with showa forks. |

On my 96S1 one fork is compression and the other is rebound. |

Same as my 98 S3 I didn't know if the difference was in the dampener or in the valving or what made the difference in the forks? |

The S1 parts book does not list the damper cartridge as an individual item, however they are different as Dannybuell says, one is compression, one is rebound.

What bike do you have? S2 models had different forks than S1 models in that the S2 had compression and rebound in each fork assembly. In the old "Lightning Series" race program, it was a popular (perceived) upgrade for S1s to put S2 forks on to allow the suspension more "tunable". |

Thank you guys for your replies. Screamer I have a 98 S3. In my right fork I lost tunableity. The dampener screw just spins and was just checking if i had to get a right dampener or if i left one would work too. |

Dwrecked, Last year the RH S1 forks were being firesaled on ebay. I bought a couple for the fork legs, bushings, and other parts that interchanged with the S2 Roma forks. I pulled the damper rods and put them in a box on the shelf, I'm not even sure why I kept them. If you want me to sent one your way, PM me your address and I will try to get it in the mail before I leave for Roundup in the Ozarks! Mike |

I just want to give props to Mike aka Bigslug. He is the definition of what this Buell community is all about. Buellers helping other Buellers. I just want to say thanks again. |
