I'd like to try replacing my coil on my X1. Bike is still running like poo when it gets warm. Runs great when you push it though. I ran it hard at Road America Sunday. From out of turn three to just under the Sargento bridge I was over 120 when I let off......Man what a sound, what a rush!!!! Got to get this thing fixed. I'm just trying to eliminate another possibility, I've tried many.........I noticed that some of the XL coils don't have the plug in for the harness wires? Are there XL's that fit? Is there a high performance one made or is that a waste of money? Good place to purchase?? Thanks.......... |

The X1 coil is the same as the fuel injected big twins of the time. The XL coils are different. As far as performance goes unless you have some major work done then I do not think there is much advantage to a coil up grade. What have you done to the Bike so far to fix its poor performance when warm? |

What have you done to the Bike so far to fix its poor performance when warm? I installed new intake manifold gaskets first, o2 next, new plugs, new plug wires, TPS reset, AFV reset to 100, Buell fan kit. Dealer just had if for a week and a half, said they had it fixed by doing the static timing......Didn't even make it home and it started acting up on me....Still runs real bad when you just cruising between 3 to 4 thousand rpm. Misses and sputters bad but if you twist the throttle, i mean 'give her', runs out great....On the track it ran outstanding but when you need to just cruse it's terrible......I bought new injector seals and TB to manifold and to airbox seals but have not installed them yet......coil would be another thing I could cross off the ever growing list. So the coils from the big twins with fuel injection are the same.....I'll see what I can find. |

I have been there before... Just a few weeks ago in fact. Do you have ECM SPY? How about the temp sensor, Cam position sensor? Both are easy to check with ECM SPY. |

Changed out the head temp with new from American Sportbike, I do have the ECM Spy but have not checked the cam position sensor. The Spy is new to me and I'm still in the early diaper stage........TwoSeasons and I are baby stepping our way through it now trying to figure it out.......... |

So what is your AFV now, and what was it before you reset it? And what pipe is on it? |

Reset AFV to 100 before the 'learn' ride, after the 'learn' ride it was 105. I have the Buell race header and Buell can with the race box. K&N also....... (Message edited by jkgonzo on June 06, 2012) |

How do you "check" the CPS using the ECMspy? Are you talking about checking the static timing, i.e., 0->5 transition, etc.? |
